A golf group tour to Southeast Asia is, in our experience, the trip that most golf societies in Australia have been talking about for years but haven't yet organised. The combination of world-class courses, private villa accommodation, and value-compared-to-peers makes it the obvious group travel decision — but someone needs to organise it.
Asia Golf Specialists manages every element of group golf tours in Vietnam, Thailand, and Cambodia — from tee time coordination across multiple courses to villa sourcing, airport transfer staging, and group competition logistics. Here's how we do it, and what makes a group trip exceptional.
Group Sizing and Villa Configuration
The private villa model is the foundation of the AGS group experience. A single villa for 8–12 players creates a cohesive social environment that hotels cannot replicate:
Single Villa (6–10 players)
- One communal pool and social space
- Shared villa staff and kitchen
- 5–6 bedrooms, private bathrooms
- Competition scoring over shared dinners
Dual-Villa (10–20 players)
- Adjacent villas, connected via garden
- Shared group dinners across both properties
- Greater bedroom privacy for larger groups
- Two pools — morning splits, evening gatherings
Tee Time Coordination
Securing consecutive tee times for a group of 8–16 at Vietnam's premier courses requires advance planning and established relationships. AGS secures dedicated time blocks — typically 4 starting times in sequence — that keep the group together on the course and prevent the fragmentation of playing partners across separate waves.
For groups larger than 16, AGS splits the group into morning and afternoon waves at different courses on select days, then reunites the group at the villa for the evening competition scoring and dinner.
The Group Competition
Every AGS group trip runs a Stableford competition across all golf rounds. We provide scorecards, a running leaderboard (updated at the villa each evening), and individual round statistics. On the final evening, the leaderboard is revealed at a formal dinner (poolside at the villa, by default) with prizes presented — typically a running trophy that nominates the next trip's host to choose the destination.
We've found that the group competition transforms the trip from a holiday that's merely enjoyable to one that's genuinely unforgettable. Every shot matters. Every round builds the narrative. The conversation at dinner on night 6 circles back to the par-4 on Day 2 at Hoiana Shores that cost someone the lead.
